Suburban Youth Symphony Orchestra

Suburban Youth Symphony Orchestra is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit operated by a talented team of classically trained musicians and instructors who are dedicated to providing students across the south suburbs of Chicago with the opportunity to develop the necessary skills, music education, and inspiration to play and enjoy music, and to build a community of string players.

Incredible Opportunity Program

AGES 8–13 · NO EXPERIENCE NEEDED

Our beginner class for students learning violin, viola, or cello for the first time. Classes are kept small, just 2–10 students, so beginners learn together at a comfortable pace.

Suburban Youth Symphony Junior Orchestra

AGES 8–17 · INTERMEDIATE

Our intermediate ensemble prepares students for the Suburban Youth Symphony Orchestra, with a focus on technique and ensemble playing.

Suburban Youth Symphony Orchestra

AGES 8–17 · ADVANCED

Our top performing group and the namesake of the organization. Students are accepted after completing a comprehensive audition.
